It's been tradition in Ireland for centuries, to leave out gifts of bread and water for fairies on All souls night - it is said it can be dangerous not to! When you think of fairies, you think of tiny women with wings holding a magic wand to ward away evil - right? The fairies of Celtic tradition, are more serious creatures, not to be made fun of, not to be taken lightly, and never to be underestimated. They cause illness to cattle and people, and worst of all they sometimes kidnap a healthy child, and leave one of their sickly changelings in their place.
